I was in a drugstore last week stocking up on meds to kick the flue’s behind that’s been haunting me for too long now. I had a gig, so I needed my make myself look a little bit more presentable. I wanted to find a budget friendly setting powder, and found this Gosh ‘Prime ‘n Set Primer and Mattifying Powder’ and decided to give it a try, to make sure my make up stayed in place while performing. They had a two products for 12 euros deal, so I picked out a nice eyeshadow palette as well, the 9 Shades Eye Palette – 001 To Enjoy in New York.
I haven’t had a lot of experience with GOSH eyeshadows apart from a few loose ones, or any other products, so I was quite interested if these products were any good. I have to say, I’m quite pleasantly surprised!
I used the powder to set my make up, especially my under eye area. This is a really nice and light powder, that is loose and silky without caking. It’s transparent so it doesn’t interfere with your base underneath.
The package has a nice practical system that locks and helps you to manage the powder, so you don’t spill it all over your clothes. It’s perfume and paraben free.
I haven’t used it as a primer, I prefer my MAC Prep + Prime Natural Radiance Base for that. And I doubt that a powder can give you the same as a fluid primer.
So there are three of these palettes, each with 9 shades and each inspired by the three big US citys: 001 To Enjoy in New York, 002 To Have Fun in LA, and 003 To Play With in Vegas. I chose the 001 To Enjoy in New York palette.
This is a great budget friendly palette with nice natural shades. It has purple, pink and even olivey, taupe and brown shades, that compliment each other well. It has two soft shimmery shades, that you can use as a highlighter, the other colors are matte.
The shades are quite soft and nicely pigmented, but I do recommend using an eyeshadow base, and when you apply them watch out for a little fall out. It’s great for an everyday neutral look, not as amazing quality as MAC Cosmetics or Urban Decay eyeshadows, but definitely a real beautiful and maybe one of the best drugstore palettes I have seen! I’ll be sure post a new face of the day picture some time this week, using this palette.
Do you have any Gosh or other drugstore beauty products I should try? Tell me in the comments!
